Standard bone marrow biopsy (BMB) and bone involvement with follicular lymphoma (FL) on positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) both predict early clinical failure in FL. The key clinical question is whether PET/CT findings can obviate the need for BMB.

Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) posttherapy uptake. Computed tomography (CT) and positron emission tomography (PET) images show radiation changes in the posterior medial left lung 3 months after external-beam radiation therapy. The uptake may decrease slightly on follow-up scans, but marked uptake typically persists in the lungs.

During the past decade, 18-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) has rapidly evolved from a pure research modality to a clinical necessity. FDG-PET was introduced to determine the state of brain function in physiologic and pathologic states. Its use as a powerful tool to diagno … Objectives: We retrospectively assessed the diagnostic utility of dedicated positron emission tomography (PET) and hybrid PET-computed tomography (CT) scans with [F-18]fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) in the imaging evaluation of patients with known or suspected recurrent and metastatic cholangiocarcinoma. These questi 2014-05-05 · To assess the role of [ 18 F]fluorodeoxyglucose ([ 18 F]FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) after rituximab and anthracycline-containing chemoimmunotherapy in patients with primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma (PMLBCL). Positron emission tomography (PET) is a functional imaging technique that uses radioactive substances known as radiotracers to visualize and measure changes in metabolic processes, and in other physiological activities including blood flow, regional chemical composition, and absorption. Initially mainly used to diagnose carcinomas, 18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (18 F-FDG PET) imaging combined with CT has become increasingly used to detect infections [ 4, 5 ].

Fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography

Positron emission tomography (PET) is now primarily used in oncological indication owing to the successful application of fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) in an increasing number of clinical indications at different stages of diagnosis, and for staging and follow-up.
